About the Energy Ordinance - In 2009 the City of Austin enacted the Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure Ordinance (ECAD). The ordinance requires certain owners/sellers of real estate property within the city of Austin AND serviced by Austin Energy to provide an energy audit inspection report to buyers at the time a contract is accepted by both parties. Sellers who are required to provide an energy audit and fail to do so could be fined.

Exemptions - Some homes are exempt from providing an energy audit. For more on this view the List of Exemptions.
